Ok so I just got a new phone that came with a free tablet, and it turns out this octo core lil phone is faster cpu wise and possibly even gpu wise then my computer. Right now my Solar Panel controller sends excess electricity back to the grid when all my batteries are charged.

I would like to use my excess electricity to power a mining rig.

What is the most inexpensive way to start mining? I have old I7 powered PCs loaded up with Debian Linux, and can get GPUs if necessary.

N00b question - Mining on p2pool using Baikal

hello there I would like to know the following:
Do I need to leave my wallet open while mining on a p2pool?
I think the answer is no because I'm using the baikal mini miner which is connected by ethernet port to the p2p node pool. So I guess no need to leave open 24/7 the qt wallet on my PC while mining, But it is better to confirm this or to know the best way.

Hi all you miners out there

I've got a problem with my sgminer 5.1.1 -opt-win after a couple of hours running it:

Sgminer waits with the message
"Waiting for work to be available from pools.
Work available from pools, resuming."

But my worker (2x7970) does not resume, the GPUs get down to 27degres temperature and don't worl.
Tried it on different pools and solopools.
Also I've tried different stats in the config like threads, xintensy, worksize,...

My sgminer.conf looks like that...
